Community Life seeks volunteers in many areas to share the word of Christ as mandated in the greatest command: "To love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, and soul and to love our neighbors as ourselves."
BROTHER DAN'S FOOD PANTRY: We collect canned goods (soup and fruit for 2011) for the food pantry.
VISION: To answer the call in Matthew 25:35 "For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat..."

CHRISTMAS ADOPT-A-FAMILY: Congregation members provide Christmas gifts for members of a local family.
VISION: To provide gifts for a family in need at Christmas time

FAMILY FUN FALL FESTIVAL: Begun in 2010, this was an exciting event that included a lunch barbecue, fun family games, family photos and fellowship. The event invited the entire community to come and participate in activities while at the same time invitiving people to worship with us and raising funds to help those in need.
VISION: To host a community event that invites people to participate in the body of Christ at Cross of Christ and to raise funds for a chosen benevolence.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY: Through participation with the Church Hammers group our congregation provides labor and support crews to help making owning a house possible for those who might not otherwise be able to.
VISION: To put Christian love into action by building homes using biblical economics: no profit and no interest.

LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF - SCHOOL KIT MINISTRY: : In the fall we provide school kits to LWR for distribution to students around the world who are in need...including right here in Michigan. This ministry opens our eyes to the work of Christ in this world as we reach beyond ourselves into God's world.
VISION: To empower those who need supplies to learn and to grow in the hope and faith that comes from building relationships around the world.

MDOT ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY: In April, July, and September church members clean the roadsides along a 2 mile segment of US 31 from the M68 intersection in Alanson.
VISION: To service the community and enhance the church’s commitment to greening our environment.

PAPER PRODUCTS PANTRY: Twice monthly the church distributes paper products, soaps, and other personal items collected to those in need.
VISION: To provide products which the food pantries are not permitted to distribute but which are needed.

PRAYER BLANKETS: This group invites all who would like to share in prayer for the people, world, and community to gather at the church. Prayer blankets are created through crocheting, knitting, and by tying fleece with a prayer sewn onto each blanket. The blankets are then delivered and the prayer is said with the recipient.
VISION: To share prayer especially with those who have need of support because of illness, surgery, or other causes.

RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE: In April, we work with Emmanuel Episcopal to provide reminder calls, volunteers at the Red Cross office, donors, and refreshments for a blood drive.
VISION: To serve the community.

SERRV FAIR TRADE GOODS: Throughout the year we make coffee and tea from Fair Trade sources available for purchase and at Christmas hold a Christmas sale of Fair Trade gift items.
VISION: To support Fair Trade, make choices in line with our religious beliefs, and affirm human dignity by promoting fair wages, women’s rights, the right to organize, environmental rights, and indigenous rights.

VISION: To bring awareness to the congregation of the abundance that we have that can be shared with those in need as we share our faith by serving.

THURSDAY FREE LUNCH PROGRAM: Working with Emmanuel Episcopal we provide a free balanced meal at First Presbyterian Church in Petoskey once a week for those in need.
VISION: To share in the love of Christ by serving those in need and working together ecumenically in our community for peace and equity.

- Evangelism: To touch both churched and unchurched members of our community and to share the love of God with them.
- Ministries: To empower the congregation by the power of the Spirit to make a difference in the lives of brothers and sisters throughout this world through education, service, and leadership (see descriptions of current ministries below).
- Publicity: To secure publicity thereby sharing the celebration of Christ at Cross of Christ.
- Fundraising: To aid in funding selected church ministries by passing noisy offering cans as part of Sunday services, holding a yearly garage sale, writing grants, and developing other means of funding.
